Doja Cat is the fashion chameleon of our generation. In recent years, the rapper, born Amala Dlamini, has reached Madonna and Gaga levels of aesthetic reinvention, donning new guises and cycling through insane characters, upping the ante every single time.
For her most recent album Vie , the musician has leaned into a hyperglam 80s aesthetic, arriving to last year’s MTV Video Music Awards in a structured minidress from Balmain, with strong shoulders and covered in a Harlequin print (ever the entertainer, she even chomped on her red lipstick on the carpet).
Doja also ruled the VMAs back in 2021 when the star was asked to host the awards and brought with her six show-stopping looks, including giant AVAVAV claw boots and a Thom Browne worm dress that have both made this list. Elsewhere, Doja’s status as a front row fixture has never been questioned thanks to her genius fashion week looks, like her bruised and bloodied Balenciaga SS23 appearance, her avant-garde outings at Viktor & Rolf , and her infamous ‘Doja’s Inferno’ look from Schiaparelli ’s SS23 couture show, when Dame Pat McGrath covered her in 30,000 blood-red Swarovski crystals.
