Dove Cameron and Damiano David are officially married! As shared exclusively with Vogue, the couple tied the knot this weekend at a private ceremony in Tuscany—and just four days before the wedding weekend celebrations, we joined Dove in Rome to pay a visit to the Valentino ateliers in Rome and try on her wedding dress for the very last time.

“Ciao, Vogue!” the musician and actor says before the final fitting, sitting at an outdoor café and reflecting on the experience of planning the wedding. “I never really dreamed about what my wedding would look like when I was a little girl—I think I wanted to rent out Carnegie Hall and enter in a big, black dress made out of feathers and have a 32-piece orchestra playing,” she says.

And while she jokingly describes herself as “wildly unprepared” for the wedding ahead, she also notes: “It feels right. It feels natural.

It feels easy. It feels like a natural, beautiful next step.

I don't know how else to describe it. I'm in love, [and] we're throwing a big party.”

Soon, it’s time to head up to the atelier, located within the Italian fashion brand’s headquarters, which sits right next to the city’s iconic Spanish Steps. There, Dove allows herself to be guided by her stylist Marc Eram into a moodily lit, wood-paneled room filled with antique furniture—then opens her eyes and gasps.

“Oh my God!” she exclaims. “I've never seen it with the full thing with the veil on the mannequin.

Every time that I see it, it really is like seeing it for the first time.”

The dress, designed by Alessandro Michele, is crafted from luminous silk satin and layers of flowing silk chiffon, with a sculpted bustier and a dramatic train made up of further layers of white chiffon. A row of silk-covered buttons runs from the center back to the end of the train, left undone to create a sweeping split and fan-like movement.

“My great desire for this dress was that it was simple but elevated, and something that I felt like myself in,” Dove explains. “It’s so romantic.”

The real showstopper, however, is the four-meter silk tulle veil, delicately hand-embroidered with constellations of tiny crystals and beads. That celestial element is no accident: Celeste, it turns out, is the bride’s middle name. “I wanted something very unique, and they really created an art piece,” she says. (Her Valentino crystal hair clips only further that astral theme.)

Once Dove tries on her dress in front of the Valentino team, she immediately sheds tears of happiness. “It’s really hard for me to feel like myself in a dress, and I really feel like myself,” she says. “So thank you so much.” The next priority? Calling her mom and grandma, of course. “You look gorgeous,” her grandma says over FaceTime, beaming with joy.

While Dove admits she and Damiano may have initially underestimated the intensity of wedding planning—“it was so overwhelming, [and] I could not have foreseen how crazy it was going to feel,” she says—the one element of the day that she never wavered on was wearing a design by Michele.

“The experience of creating your wedding dress with a design house that you are so passionate about ... Valentino was my dream house to collaborate with on the wedding look,” she continues. “Every time I come in here, I cry, because they were so kind, and they really went over the top for me.” Let the celebrations begin.
