Paris Fashion Week just wrapped, but our analysis has only just begun. The runways may forecast the trends to come, but we’d argue the street style scene is just as—if not more—important in setting the sartorial tone for the season ahead.
There are always a few It items that outshine the rest—you know, those pieces that are on the lips of every editor and seemingly included in almost every front-row look. (Allow me to jog your memory: Last PFW was all about the cobalt blue handbag and the bold-buckle belts from Celine and Dior.)
This season is no different, with statement red outerwear, earth-tone denim, and prim lady jackets leading the fall 2026 charge. Styling, as always, makes these pieces come to life—with personality-driven touches taking the simplest combinations to new heights.
Below, the 10 things everyone wore at PFW that you can wear now too. See you back here in February!
The Statement Red Outerwear
Red alert! The vibrant shade’s reign continued at PFW, spotted in jacket form on several of fashion’s most stylish showgoers. From sporty jackets and roomy trench coats to sleek zip-ups, the bold shade packed a powerful punch. Shop our favorites for fall, from Róhe and Ssstein to Sporty & Rich and Ulla Johnson.
The Lady Jacket
Ladylike jackets are one of the season’s biggest trends, with purposefully shrunken shapes defining the new look. The street-style set was quick to jump on board, embracing it for day in a number of ways. Vogue’s Lisa Aiken, in particular, dazzled in Kallmeyer’s gilded jacquard pankou-closure jacket, giving it a daytime spin with simple wide-leg blue jeans and a pair of black pumps.
The Flannel Shirt
According to the PFW fashion crowd, flannel shirts are the secret to chic transitional dressing. Wear yours with cozy corduroys or a trendy pair of skants, or tie it coolly at the waist with wide-leg trousers and a roomy blazer. Plaid may not be groundbreaking for fall, but styles from High Sport, Jamie Haller, and even Polo Ralph Lauren will go the distance in your rotation—plus offer up a welcome dose of edge.
The Epic Trench Coat
A beige trench coat will never go out of style. This fall, though, take a styling cue from these chic Parisians and go for an updated look. Details to focus on that give it a sense of now: funnel-necks, prints, and darker shades of brown, as well as unexpected textures (think suede and leather).
The Leather Moto Jacket
Hello, moto! While a longtime wardrobe essential, the edgy staple had taken a back seat to make room for newer shapes. If the latest street-style looks have anything to say, it’s that the moto is firmly back in fashion—and in a big way. In rich brown leather or classic black, here’s a fall trend you can’t go wrong with.
The Leopard-Print Skirt
Is the leopard-print skirt back? It’s certainly having a revival on the PFW streets, spotted on everyone from industry insider Tamu McPherson to Vogue Shopping columnist Laurel Pantin. Styling-wise, pair a pick from Nour Hammour, Khaite, or Stouls with a pop of red, or make it a double-trouble moment with a matching leopard-print coat or jacket. (We saw a lot of coordinating skirt looks during Milan as well!)
The Fashion Flat
These aren’t your classic ballerinas. Vogue’s head of editorial content (and our intrepid flats-on-the-ground reporter), Chloe Malle, wrote to us from Paris to let us know that high-vamp ballet flats were very much in. Phoebe Philo’s minimalist pair was the crowd favorite, with similar styles from Alex Mill, Alaïa, and Toteme also making an appearance.
The Earth-Tone Pant
Earth-tone jeans are sticking around as one of the season’s coolest denim trends, but this time, the street-style scene is working them into the mix as corduroys. Styling-wise, both look great with everything from crisp button-ups to cashmere crewnecks and leather jackets.
The Semi-Sheer Skirt
From slip dresses to heeled sandals, the ’90s continue to be a source of inspiration on and off the runways. One defining style of the decade that often goes unnoticed, however, is the sheer skirt.
Not anymore! From Lisa Aiken to Vogue Italia’s Marta Oldrini, sheer skirts were an unexpected—and slightly sexy—staple to emerge from PFW.
Styling-wise, it’s all about the layers. Contrast their featherweight feel with a chunky sweater, a cool piece of outerwear, or an oversized tee.
The Royal Purple Layering Essential
Whether you’re tying a colorful crewneck at the waist or sporting a second-skin turtleneck underneath a leather jacket, royal purple has a way of making almost every look pop. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get in on the color trend this fall. Shop our picks, from Lié Studio x Tricot’s preppy polo (a new collab we’re loving) to Cos’s chunky cashmere turtleneck.
The Pop of Pink
Royal purple and cherry red aren’t the only color trends worth noticing this fall: Pink deserves just as much attention. Vogue Italia’s Francesca Ragazzi put her spin on the pink pants trend, sporting a glossy taffeta pair in the sweet shade, while British Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi topped off her denim skirt look with a powder pink jacket.
Want more? Try Bernadette’s boatneck midi in pink moiré or Valentino’s fabulous column skirt in fuchsia.
Pink jeans from Still Here and Frame are the easiest way to dip your toe into the trend.
The Colorful Beaded Necklace
Looking to add a pop to your next great fall look? Simply add a colorful beaded necklace, à la these stylish Parisians. Options from Le Sundial, Paola Sighinolfi, and Sophie Buhai make it easy—and incredibly chic.

The Flash of Leopard
There’s no debate—Milan’s street style scene is going wild for leopard print. The certified new neutral was spotted on everyone from the industry’s elite to Vogue Italia’s own, some of whom made the flashy print the entire outfit—think spotted jackets with matching midiskirts or statement coats that totally stole the show. Equal parts playful and timeless, the staple is a reminder that cats do, in fact, rule the world. (Sorry, dogues.)
The Bold and Bright Skirt
It’s Milan Fashion Week, so naturally, the separate of choice is the polished midiskirt. For fall 2026, however, it’s all about going bold and bright, from vibrant colorways—chartreuse, robin’s-egg blue, and pale pink—to styles dripping in sequins, fringe, and even feathers. Need more convincing? Prada’s spring 2027 collection featured a skirt in every look, proving the It item isn’t just taking over the street style scene, but our next-season shopping carts, too.
The Prada Wish Pouch
In bubble-gum pink, tangerine orange, and marigold, Prada’s drawstring Wish pouch accented almost every look at MFW—and not just outside the brand’s runway show. Once a traditional evening bag, It girls and editors are making the case that this season’s petite pouches belong firmly in the daytime, styled with everything from barn jackets and boho dresses to skirts and crisp button-ups.
Prefer your handbag more muted? Don’t fret—as shown here by several industry insiders, the Wish also comes in neutrals like black, camel, and rich brown.
Consider it the ultimate grab-and-go accessory—and your cue to add one to your own wardrobe.
The Colorful Button-Up
This fall’s go-to styling trick? A colorful button-up in royal purple, cherry red, or even baby pink. Whether tucked into a Miuccia Prada-approved midiskirt or tied at the waist with tailored trousers and an easy tee, the classic staple suddenly feels anything but basic. Shop similar styles here, from J.Crew and Cos to Polo Ralph Lauren and Comme Si.
The Red Layering Essential
Few colors turn heads quite like a flash of red—but this season, the fashion crowd is turning to a subtle red layering essential rather than the full outfit. Make a crewneck sweater in cherry, crimson, or cranberry your styling go-to, draping it elegantly across your shoulders atop a striped shirt and leather jacket.
Or, dip into one of fall’s favorite color trends by pairing it with a pop of royal purple, à la Vogue Italia’s Francesca Ragazzi. The best part?
Everyone from high-street favorites J.Crew and Gap to contemporary labels Róhe, High Sport, and Co has an option to choose from. We can’t wait to see how you work a flash of red into your next fall look!
The Suede Handbag
Suede, suede, suede! MFW’s It bag of choice was a total textural sensation—and, of course, a fall classic.
The sumptuous material and the season just seem to go together. But like anything, it’s all in the styling.
Go for a slouchy hobo bag with more polished separates, like straight-leg denim and crisp shirting, or carry a ladylike top-handle tote with a statement skirt and transitional sandals. And because it’s Milan, Prada’s suede handbags were the undeniable standout—most notably, its Allusion tote, available to shop below.
The Funky Pump
Pumps have long been the street-style scene’s footwear of choice, but outside the Milan shows, styles were funkier than ever. Prada and Marni both featured gothic-inspired iterations, complete with distressed leather and Wednesday Addams–like bows, while Bottega Veneta’s sculptural silhouettes were slightly less jarring, but just as daring.
Don’t be afraid to slip into a statement shoe this fall—simply follow these showgoers’ lead and pare yours back with a simple skirt and sweater, or style it to the max with a wild print or fancy frock.
The Groutfit
MFW’s go-to style mantra? When in doubt, make it a groutfit. Gray is always a standout shade at Milan Fashion Week, with spring 2027 proving no exception. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to sport the notable neutral, from full-suit looks to soft knits and even easy dresses. Next time you’re tempted to reach for failsafe black or camel, channel your inner sciura in an elegant gray ensemble instead.

The Pop of Purple
Purple reign! From bright aubergine to jewel-toned amethyst, the color associated with royalty continues to have its moment.
A recurring shade on the runways at Celine, Loewe, and Tory Burch, to name a few, it has now caught the attention of the street style scene. Fashion insider Jalil Johnson is an early adopter, pairing his eggplant-colored crewneck with a cherry red button-up—a color clash we saw more than once this NYFW.
The same goes for Marie Claire editor-in-chief Nikki Ogunnaike, who sported her own statement sweater atop a simple black tee and pair of drawstring pants. Colorful knits aren’t the only gateway to the trend—try Cos’s draped midi-dress, Alaïa’s Le Teckel, or Alex Mill’s ballet flats, all in the vibrant hue.
Conner Ives Anything and Everything
Sometimes it’s not just a single item but rather a brand’s whole worldview that bewitches, as with Brooklyn-born Conner Ives’s namesake label. Ives’s chinoiserie floral prints graced everything from satin blazers and fur-lined coats to midiskirts and drawstring pouches.
Moda Operandi’s Lauren Santo Domingo is a particular champion of the designer, styling her prized jacket with simple blue jeans and a pair of heeled sandals. Consider Conner Ives the one to watch this fashion month.
The Statement Brooch
The brooch isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Blooming florals, in particular, proved to be the ultimate crowd-pleaser, accentuating almost every kind of look.
Vogue’s own Madeline Fass and Naomi Elizée stuck to more minimalist varieties in ivory and black, pinning theirs onto menswear-inspired blazers. Elsewhere, showgoers opted for floral brooches in vibrant red and even yellow.
Industry insider Ramya Giangola took a craftier approach, styling a leather brooch with her jean jacket and floral minidress. Shop similar styles from By Malene Birger, Indress, Hill House Home, and even Etsy.
The Silk Fringe Scarf Turned Cummerbund
The fringed scarf is back, and there’s no one way to wear it. Knotted at the waist as a belt, however, is the preferred street-style method.
Similarly trendy, cummerbunds are crossing over into the world of womenswear, adding an elevated finishing touch to everything from tailored trousers to balloon pants. White satin seems to be the go-to—breaking up both all-black and all-white looks—but the idea works just as well with something bolder or printed.
