From Madonna's many reinventions to the colourful world of court jesters, inspiration came from all corners at this season's 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. Over four days, designers from Spain and beyond descended on the Catalan capital to present their latest collections, bringing a mix of established names, emerging talent and international labels to the runway.

There was plenty to take in. DOMINNICO celebrated its tenth anniversary with a dose of 90s pop glamour, with the likes of Kitty Lever and Sita Abellán taking to the runway. Meanwhile, emerging Spanish label BOLTAD made its debut with a playful exploration of reincarnation. Elsewhere, designers turned to dreams, desire and the lives we never lived, making for a week of unexpected references and imaginative designs.

Here are seven of our favourite collections from the week.

Ten years into DOMINNICO, creative director Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro is looking towards a new chapter. Titled SUPERNOVA, the Spanish label’s SS27 collection takes cues from Madonna and her many reinventions.

Channelling the pop star’s 90s glamour, officewear got a night-out makeover, with pinstriped tailoring, pencil skirts and bomber jackets rendered in everything from glossy leather to satin and knitwear. Pastel pinks, lilacs and corals softened the collection’s more futuristic touches, while some models stepped out with DOMINNICO magazines tucked under their arms.

The characters of Outsiders Division are growing up, and with that comes a whole new set of curiosities. Titled Groomed and Horny , the brand’s latest collection imagines its fictional universe entering adolescence, where childhood innocence gives way to questions of attraction, identity and experimentation.

Taking cues from the visual codes of sex clubs, the collection introduced tighter silhouettes and provocative graphics, bringing a more risqué edge to the brand’s signature playful aesthetic. Models took to the runway in patchwork shirts, star-printed jackets and tiny shorts. But the brand's childlike playfulness was still present, from teddy bear headwear and patterned handkerchiefs to rosette socks and embellished flats.

For its latest collection, Vidas No Vividas (Unlived Lives), Pat Equilux turned its attention to the different versions of ourselves that never came to be. Inspired by the poetic manifesto The Building of Unlived Lives , the collection imagines these alternate lives as apartments in a building, each illuminated window offering a glimpse into a different path not taken.

On the runway, this introspective concept translated into clean tailoring in muted colours, buckled jackets and boots and thick ruffled sleeves. Special mention goes to the wild hairstyles, which added an unexpected touch of chaos. Rather than dwelling on what could have been, the collection offered a reminder to appreciate the life we're living now.

Rather than debuting a new collection, French designer Louis Gabriel Nouchi took a trip down memory lane. Named Volver - A Study in Desire , the presentation saw pieces from previous LGN collections pulled from the archive and styled into new looks, drawing inspiration from the colourful, emotionally charged films of Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar.

Through unexpected styling combinations, familiar garments took on new identities, proving that reinvention doesn't always require starting from scratch. On the runway, models appeared in long, sweeping coats and oversized tailoring, while others had their faces obscured by lace coverings.

For his 080 Barcelona Fashion debut, BOLTAD founder Alberto Martín Pozo turned his attention to reincarnation. Titled Billy | El Hermoso , the collection explores the idea that we carry different versions of ourselves throughout our lives, even as we grow and change.

During the show, this idea of transformation took a playful shape through unexpected layers, clashing prints and contrasting colours, with garments appearing as though they'd been pulled from different wardrobes, eras and walks of life.

For its latest collection, Jester’s Prayer , Acceptance Letter turned to the unlikely muse of the court jester, whose colourful costume once gave them a free pass to poke fun at those in power. Also taking cues from Federico Fellini’s 1970 film I Clowns , the collection explored the more melancholic side of clowning, where humour becomes a way of navigating the world around us.

This played out through eccentric designs, exaggerated layering and unexpected styling combinations, without leaning too heavily into the clown aesthetic. Some looks recalled the colourful patterns of a jester’s handkerchief, with kaleidoscopic prints and brightly coloured, clog-like mules completing the playful looks.

At the helm of designer Anaïs Vauxcelles, 404 Studio brought a burst of colour to the runway at Barcelona Fashion Week this season. Titled Paprika, the brand’s SS27 collection takes inspiration from Satoshi Kon’s film of the same name, which circles the boundary between dreams and reality, here serving as a metaphor for personal and creative growth.

Models walked out in muted dresses and shorts, offset by bursts of hyper-saturated colour. Details included sequinned slouchy beanies, crocheted lips and upturned bags, adding a playful edge to the collection. Footwear was another standout, with 404 Studio putting its own spin on the signature jelly shoes of Brazilian footwear brand Melissa, a collaborator of the collection.
