There are certain rites of passage for the modern celebrity: the Met Gala steps, a Hot Ones interrogation, a turn in the Vogue Beauty Secrets bathroom. And, increasingly, there is “the French show with the good lighting.”

The show in question is Quotidien, the daily French news and culture program hosted by Yann Barthès on TMC, which has acquired an unlikely second life online thanks to its almost preternaturally flattering studio lighting. Clips of Margot Robbie, Zendaya, Sabrina Carpenter, Timothée Chalamet, and others sitting beneath its warm glow have ricocheted around social media, where viewers have become fascinated by the way everyone seems to emerge looking particularly luminous.

Zara Larsson has even publicly campaigned for an appearance, while Sombr referenced the nickname when he finally made it onto the show. Now, Hailey Bieber has entered the chat.

Bieber appeared on Quotidien while in Paris amid Rhode’s European expansion via Sephora. And arguably, there could be no more appropriate guest for the internet’s favorite unofficial beauty filter.

Under Quotidien’s famously flattering lights, Bieber’s signature beauty vocabulary came into particularly sharp focus. Her recently darkened chocolatey brunette hair was center-parted and blown smooth, with long face-framing layers curling softly inward around her shoulders.

Her makeup, meanwhile, stayed characteristically fresh: brushed-up brows, softly defined lashes, a sheer nude-pink lip and, most noticeably, a generous rosy flush swept high across the cheeks. Her complexion was lit-from-within radiant, with the warm pink pigment catching the light across the tops of her cheekbones.

That last detail was doing double duty as a tease for a new product from Bieber coming our way soon. The mogul shared on Instagram that she had been road-testing another Rhode cheek product, like a new blush, that would be part of a November release around her 30th birthday.

Rhode has continued to expand its cheek category, with a recent collaboration with Alexandra Leclerc to create Pocket Pearl, a miniature, reflective riff on the original formula.

It is easy to see why Quotidien is such a covetable spot. Lighting director Frédéric Dorieux has said that the team aims for light that is soft, even, and full without flattening the face.

The show’s circular set, with guests seated at its center and surrounded by the audience, allows the light to reach them from multiple perspectives, while strategically placed sources help give hair, skin, and eyes glow. When you’re Hailey Bieber, that dab of lip gloss, sweep of blush ,and glint of highlighter gets its moment.

Not that Bieber needs much assistance, with dewy skin and softly flushed cheeks becoming central to the Rhode universe. The glazed-donut complexion, of course, helped define an entire beauty cycle. Seeing the internet’s foremost disciple of glow meet the internet’s foremost purveyor of good lighting, though, feels quite satisfying—who else needs another excuse to update that Sephora cart?
