Rosalía and Loli Bahia might not be interested in matchy-matchy couples dressing, but their latest outing proves that contrasting wardrobes can be just as complementary. And when in Paris, kisses reign supreme over contrived couple style choices.
The pair spent Saturday shopping and walking around Paris, where they were photographed holding hands and kissing in the street. Where we can away from Paris Fashion Week, where we can expect to see more of the pop star and model on the front rows and the runways respectively.
Their outfits sat firmly within their respective style universes. Rosalía chose a dancer-like pink dress with a close-fitting bodice and flared mini-skirt and pink heeled ballerina pumps, an off-duty iteration of some of her Lux tour balletic looks. Bahia, meanwhile, was in full model-off-duty mode: a white T-shirt and loose blue jeans, with black sneakers and a blue striped shirt slung and tied across her chest. It’s very much the model uniform.
It’s also a dynamic the couple have been honing for some time. Back in June, Rosalía stepped out in New York in a white Stella McCartney mini-dress with a tulle hem (another ballet-esque look) while Bahia stuck to a gray crewneck, low-rise jeans, and loafers.
The former’s taste tends towards the theatrical—latex, tulle, towering boots, and emerging designers—while Bahia has built an off-duty wardrobe around slouchy denim, uncomplicated basics, and, when the occasion calls for it, sharply cut Saint Laurent tailoring.
Rosalía has a little more time for romantic strolls these days, too. Her Lux Tour has now wrapped, following rescheduled North American dates that culminated with two Miami shows on September 14 and 16.
And there’s something particularly good about the fact that neither seems interested in absorbing the other’s aesthetic. Rosalía remains Rosalía, and Bahia remains resolutely Loli.
The coordinating element is all about attitude—and, in this case, a considerable amount of PDA.
