Shop Talk is a biweekly column dedicated to exploring the latest styles and trends to hit the internet. We'll sift through new arrivals to bring you the styles we’re loving, the trends gaining momentum, and the pieces you’ll want to see before they sell out.

We're in the throes of fashion week in New York, and while I'd love to be wearing jackets, denim, and boots, I fear we are nowhere near that time of year. Fashion people are out here styling all those things (plus plaid flannels) and looking fabulous while trying not to faint from heat exhaustion.

I know you're as eager as I am to curate next season's wardrobe, so let's start with pieces that feel transitional and lightweight, but can still be worn as the weather slowly cools down. Below you'll find trendy pieces like a slip skirt from Levi's® (yes, you read that right), Madewell's buzzy purple slippers, and striped long-sleeve tops, alongside classic fall wardrobe staples like straight-leg denim, crewneck cardigans, and brown suede bags.

If you're going to buy a long-sleeve top this season, it should be striped.

Workwear pants are a welcome switch-up on the days I don't want to wear jeans.

We've seen funnel-neck jackets, but now let's talk funnel-neck shirts.

Plaid is shaping up to be the print of the season.

I love a denim jacket in the fall, this one feels the most on-trend.

Okay, Levi's®! I was unaware of your slip-skirt game.

As far as color trends go, purple is the most welcome and unexpected.

Staud is making getting dressed fun again.

I'm intrigued by this green color trend as well.

For bags, east-west is the shape of choice.

Clutches are all over fashion week as we speak.

My personal favorite micro-trend: doe print.

Loafers remain timeless, but the croc style and ruched detailing are on-trend this season.

I love the colorblocking and peep-toe style.

If you've already got your loafers sorted, try a mule.

I will wear slippers outside if they look this cute.

Oh, the many ways you could style this sweater.

A new wash in the cult favorite 501® '90s Jeans.

It's not the start of a new season without at least one fresh white tee.

I look forward to wearing denim on denim again soon.

You'll never regret investing in a classic straight-leg jean.

In case you missed it, Vuori launched denim.

You can't walk a block in NYC without spotting an Alex Mill tote.

This feels like a classic fall bag to me.

The loafer our office can't stop talking about.

A great fall outfit finishes with these ballet heels.

The black ankle boot that goes with everything.
