This summer, Body Movements was back for another edition in south London, making a return with its roaring sound systems and inimitable energy. Founded by nightlife aficionados DJ Saoirse, Clayton Wright (Little Gay Brother) and Simon Denby, the festival brought together LGBTQIA+ creatives and grassroots crews for an unforgettable party in Southwark Park.
Set across five stages – Mother, The Strap, Snatch, Hot Mess and Glory Hole – the capital’s club kids danced in leather, lace and latex until the early hours of the following morning.
The day was soundtracked by an unbeatable line-up, from Bashkka and Eris Drew to MCR-T and Horsemeat Disco. Romy played a euphoric set, blessed with a touch of hot, wet rainfall, while Babymorocco brought his infectious hyperpop to the stage, which was made all the more joyous by the crowd singing “Happy Birthday” to the artist.
In addition to those standout sounds, The Queer Archive curated an exhibition showcasing 16 artists across multiple disciplines, while the Mooch market presented a host of independent designers (harnesses anyone?).
For those who couldn’t make it to Southwark Park last weekend, Dazed Club sent photographer Ieva Petrauskaitė down to capture the ravers in all their glory. As the sun went down, the flash came on, and the festival came alive.
